People’s Athlete Kim Kwang Suk works as a coach at the Pyongyang Sports Club.
During her career as a gymnast, she distinguished herself in the world gymnastics by creating “Kim Kwang Suk Movements”. She began to learn gymnastic exercises from her childhood.
At that time, her house was located near the then Pyongyang Municipal Sports Club.
While playing outside with her friends, she used to imitate the movements of gymnasts whenever she saw them in training.
One day, a gymnastic coach happened to see her movements and asked her opinion.
She gave a ready consent to be a gymnast.
Then, she began to learn gymnastics and, later started her career as a gymnast in the then Pyongyang Municipal Sports Club. From Juche 76 (1987), she began to distinguish herself in international contests.
In the 25th World Gymnastics Championships held in October Juche 78 (1989), she performed thrilling movements in the event of asymmetric bars, to the admiration and surprise of experts.
The movements were named after her.
She bagged a gold medal in the 26th World Gymnastics Championships held in the US in Juche 80 (1991) by performing the movements in the event of asymmetric bars.
Later, she took the first place in several local and international contests.
Now, she is devoting her wisdom and zeal to training gymnasts of a new generation.
