An old people’s home was built and opened in South Phyongan Province.
The Korean-style hip-saddle roofed building consists of a dining hall, fitness hall, clinic, recreation hall, library, etc. to ensure that old people enjoy cultural and leisure activities in good health.
Bedrooms with ondol (under-floor heating system) and beds are laid out in harmonious arrangements in consideration of their physical features and tastes. Auxiliary handrails are installed along corridors and an elevator is set up for their convenience.
An Kum Chol, chief secretary of the South Phyongan Provincial Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, and Kang Hyong Bong, chairman of the South Phyongan Provincial People’s Committee, looked round the home on February 28.
