The work to prospect resources of hot springs is in full swing in the DPRK.
This year, the Ministry of Natural Resources Development and the prospecting management bureaus in all provinces conducted the probe boring of hot springs after confirming new drilling places across the country.
The prospecting to increase the gushing yield of hot springs was already brought to completion in the Onhyang-ri area of Kumya County in South Hamgyong Province, the Hwangjin-ri area of Myongchon County and the Kwanmo-ri area of Kyongsong County, North Hamgyong Province. The prospecting to find new hot springs or increase the yield is in full swing in different areas such as Unsan County in North Phyongan Province, Tongsin County in Jagang Province and Poptong County in Kangwon Province.
Consequently, hot springs with large yield and high temperature were discovered in the Munyang-ri area of Koksan County, North Hwanghae Province, the area of Samchon County township in South Hwanghae Province, the Naegok-ri area of Pochon County, Ryanggang Province and the area of Onchon County township in Nampho City.
Successes were also made in the work to explore hot spring in different parts of Pyongyang and in the Mt Paektu area.
At present, the geological survey and probe boring are going full steam ahead to expand the successes made in hot spring prospecting.
