The Jungphyong Vegetable Greenhouse Farm, located in Kyongsong County, North Hamgyong Province, was inaugurated in December last year.
It has 320 blocks of hydroponic and edaphic greenhouses, over 590 dwelling houses and many public buildings.
It is increasing vegetable production by adopting such advanced techniques and methods as dense planting and three-dimensional cultivation and making effective use of all spaces in the greenhouses.
It produces cucumber, tomato, chilli and bok choy and other vegetables all the year round, thus contributing to the improvement of people’s dietary life in the province.
From olden times, it had been difficult for the province to grow vegetables there due to unfavourable weather conditions.
Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un, who has always paid close concern to providing the locals with fresh vegetables, inspected the Jungphyong area in July Juche 107 (2018) and unfolded a blueprint for turning it into a greenhouse farm. He entrusted the task to the Korean People’s Army and visited the construction site two times. In its inaugural ceremony, he said he would have nothing more to desire if the vegetable greenhouse farm contributes to improving the diet of local people.
