Kophung County in Jagang Province has over ten 5-km-long rivers and streams with a huge volume of water and rapid current.
Of late, the county has reaped a benefit from their improvement.
It has built small- and medium-scale power stations in proper places while improving several kilometre-long section of Komyon, Wolmyong and other rivers.
Ris in the county have built over ten small-scale power stations in the course of improving rivers in keeping with their geological features and are now generating electricity.
They also brought several hectares of new land under the plow and opened up a prospect for introducing the gravity-fed irrigation system. River improvement enabled them to prevent farmland from flooding and facelift the landscape of their villages.
