Residents in Komdok Area Move into New Houses

Socialist fairyland villages have been built in the Komdok area of South Hamgyong Province.

The Komdok area was inundated by muddy water and buried under the rubble due to natural disaster, and the residents could not find out even their own houses. But today, modern houses have mushroomed everywhere to present a spectacular scenery.

Single-, low- and multi-storeyed dwelling houses for over 2 300 households, public buildings and parks have been built splendidly in Sao-dong, Songwang-dong, Jonjin-dong No. 2, Jungsan-ri, Taehung-dong No. 2, Unchon-ri, Paekgumsan-dong, Phogo-dong and Saebok-dong in Tanchon City, turning misfortune into blessings in the area.

Ceremonies for moving into new houses took place in the mining villages, and the residents moved into new houses.

Choe Hwi, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, Kim Pong Yong, chairman of the South Hamgyong Provincial People’s Committee, Kim Yong Hak, vice-chairman of the South Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the WPK, officials concerned and commanding officers of the Korean People’s Army units that participated in the construction visited the new houses to congratulate their owners.
