Goshawk Multiplies in the DPRK

The DPRK is multiplying goshawk, its national bird, by introducing an artificial breeding technique.

Researchers of the Zoology Institute under the State Academy of Sciences made deep studies of its living environment and feed while collecting other data on its ecology.

They also made clear sci-tech problems as regards the breeding of goshawk, including its nest-building, resistance to diseases, incubation period and raising of its chicks.

In June, three chicks, each weighing 35 grams, hatched out. At present, they weigh about 600 grams.

The institute is now working to apply the artificial breeding technique into different units.
