The People’s Republic of China sent flower baskets to the Friendship Tower on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the entry of the Chinese People’s Volunteers into the Korean front.
A ceremony of laying flower baskets took place on October 21.
It was attended by Li Jinjun, Chinese ambassador to the DPRK, his embassy members, Chinese guests staying in Pyongyang and Chinese residents in the DPRK.
The guards of honour of the KPA lined up at the tower.
The national anthems of the PRC and the DPRK were played.
A flower basket sent by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, president of the PRC and chairman of the Central Military Commission of the PRC, was laid at the tower.
Written on the ribbon of the flower basket were letters “The Martyrs of the Chinese People’s Volunteers Will Be Immortal”.
Placed before the tower were flower baskets in the names of the Central Committee of the CPC, the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of the PRC, the State Council of the PRC and the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, a flower basket in the joint name of the Central Military Commission of the CPC and the Central Military Commission of the PRC, and a flower basket in the names of bereaved families of the martyrs of the volunteer army for resisting American and aiding Korea, veterans and elder comrades and people from all walks of life.
The participants paid a silent tribute to the memory of the CPV martyrs, and looked round the tower.
